  1. Thank you for using KWIKLABL.
  2.         
  3. You should have five files.
  4.         
  5. KWIKLABL.EXE - The main program
  6.         
  7. KWIKLABL.DOC - The manual or documentation
  8.         
  9. REGISTER.FRM - A convenient order form for KWIKLABL.   To print just
  10.                type at the prompt: COPY REGISTER.FRM PRN
  11.         
  12. README.1ST - This file
  13.         
  14. README.TOO - Discusses possible printer problems
  15.

  17. I hope that you will print the manual and read it carefully, but if you
  18. are like most of us, you will want to jump in and get started with the 
  19. program.  This is fine, because KWIKLABL is a "user-friendly" program.
  20.         
  21. HOWEVER!  There are a few things that you must set or at least check on
  22.           your printer.  They are:
  23.     
  24.  (1)  Make sure your internal printer switches are set for Epson/standard
  25.       mode and not IBM mode.
  26.         
  27.  (2)  If you have a front panel pitch selector on your printer, it must 
  28.       be set to Program mode.
  29.         
  30.  (3)  It's a good idea to put your printer in LQ mode instead of DRAFT
  31.       mode.  KWIKLABL will command the LQ mode when needed.
  32.         
  33.  (4)  KWIKLABL makes maximum use of the emphasized or bold command to
  34.       give dark, clean printing.  On some of the older 9-pin printers
  35.       (my brother has one) the emphasize command cancels the compressed
  36.       printing command thus preventing the address from being properly 
  37.       located under the borders in the return address labels.  If you 
  38.       have this problem, please note that you have a choice (BOLD PRINT 
  39.       on the menu) of cancelling the emphasized printing command and
  40.       curing the problem.

  42.  (5)  If you have a 24-pin printer and are having problems printing
  43.       24-pin borders, see README.TOO for additional information.

  46. NOTES ABOUT THE CUSTOM BORDER EDITOR -- The editor is very simple to
  47.      operate but there are a few things you should keep in mind.  The
  48.      design you make will be repeated seven times to make a border.  If
  49.      you'll notice some of my designs like stars or pots, there are seven
  50.      of them.  With this in mind, you should either have space on the
  51.      sides for individual designs or, if you are making a continuous
  52.      design, make sure the lines will match from one to the next.  Other
  53.      than that, it's simple.  Just move with the directional keys and
  54.      mark or un-mark with the SPACEBAR.   For faster marking or un-marking
  55.      hold down the Ctrl key while moving with the left arrow key or the
  56.      right arrow key.
